Kew’s Economic Botany Collection holds around 100,000 specimens of plant raw material and objects of great scientific and cultural importance. This project will enhance its use for source communities and other researchers by reuniting, reidentifying and reattaching objects/specimens to lost and unrecorded information.

Using various sources such as conservation reports, journal articles, Museum Lists, index cards and other object/specimen documentation, the student will be digitising and integrating physical record data onto our Integrated Collections Management Database to enrich objects digital records. An important part of the project will also be accessioning recent donations of ethnobotanical specimens, undertaking the process from databasing to museum storage.

  • Financial Services: Financial Accounting– where you will be supporting the finance manger to provide financial accounting and treasury management services to the Trust. This will involve processing financial information in accordance with procedures and providing information to allow the completion of statutory returns. The role includes investigating queries from users of the service and subsequently providing assistance and advice as required. The work related to the posts will be completed in line with financial timescales.
  • Financial Services: Financial Transactions– You will be working as part of the Financial Transactions Teams (Accounts Receivable, VAT and Private Patients & Overseas), supporting the team leaders to provide excellent financial services to the Trust. The role includes the preparation of reconciliations, raising invoices, analysing information and monitoring debtors in accordance with set procedures. The work the transactional teams do is essential to the success of any business. Knowledge in this area will provide an excellent grounding upon which to build your chosen career in finance.

The student will be given a work plan which will allow them to gain experience in a number of areas within the finance function, to assist with their education and decision making for their future career.

All three roles will involve analysing data, providing detailed reconciliations and dealing with customer queries.
